A subsidy to reduce your ecological footprint

If you are ready to take a concrete action to minimize your ecological footprint, the Québec government will give you the opportunity to do so through various subsidy programs. Heating systems fall into this category.

Who is eligible for a subsidy?

Several organizations are willing to financially encourage and motivate homeowners to install energy-efficient heating systems. Depending on the organization or program, financial assistance may be directed to building owners in one or more sectors such as commercial, industrial, institutional, municipal and residential.

Federal program

National Heat Pump Rebate

From October 2026, The Government of Canada is investing $2 billion over eight years to help households install efficient electric heat pumps.

Be among the first to receive information about launch dates, eligibility, rebate amounts, and how to apply for the National Heat Pump Rebate.

Environment Canada has officially confirmed (October 21, 2026) that eligible installations completed on or after November 1, 2026, may qualify for the retroactive rebate.

If you plan to upgrade your heating system before the application portal officially opens in early 2027, you should take the following precautions to protect your eligibility:

• Keep all documentation: Save your itemized invoice, proof of payment, specific installation date, and the outdoor and indoor unit model numbers.
• Verify product eligibility: The equipment must be a cold-climate air-source heat pump. While the official federal Eligible Products List is still being finalized, sticking closely to Natural Resources Canada's qualified products list is highly recommended by industry experts.
